This program is specifically designed to learn the basic skating skills necessary to play the game of hockey.
Students are taught the skating skills required to learn the basics of hockey such as basic strides, forward and backward movement, as well as stopping and basic crossovers. Once skaters have the basics down, hockey skills such as stickhandling, passing, and pass receiving will be introduced but not heavily focused on. It is important that students are able to master the basics of skating before focusing on hockey's core skills.
Skaters are required to wear hockey gloves or heavy winter gloves, elbow and knee protection. Our staff can provide helmets, sticks and pucks at no additional cost.
Skate Rental can be added to a class registration for a fee of $25 for the entire class, or can be purchased prior to each class for $3.00 a piece.
A Learn to Skate USA Membership is also required for all skaters, and can be purchased or renewed at learntoskateusa.com. Memberships should be completed prior to the first day of class.
First time skaters may also complete a trial class if preferred. Trial classes consist of a single class during the first week of a session for only $20, plus $3.00 for skate rental. Trial classes allow new skaters to try ice skating and hockey without a financial risk. If you decide to continue with the class, the $20 will be subtracted from the final price of the class.
The next session of Tot Hockey, the Spring Session, will run from March 6th to May 12th, 2018. This session is 10 weeks long!
Registration opens Feb. 19th and register before Feb. 24th to receive up to $25 off your class!
